How to play Paper Squadron

The doodles in your school notebook have come to life, and they don't want you to finish your homework. Fly a folded paper plane up through five pages of the notebook, from math homework to the final exam, and take down a boss at the end of each one. Your plane fires on its own, so all you have to do is dodge the ink and line up your shots.

Controls

  • 1 player: arrow keys or W A S D to fly. Shooting is automatic. X, K or Space drops a bomb.
  • 2 player co-op: Player 1 flies with W A S D and bombs with G. Player 2 flies with the arrow keys and bombs with Enter.
  • On phones, drag anywhere on the screen to steer and tap BOMB to clear the screen.
  • P to pause, Esc is the boss key.

Weapons

  • Crayon gems slowly change color between red, blue and green. Grab one to switch to that weapon and power up. Grab the same color to keep leveling it, up to level 4.
  • Red spread covers a wide area. Blue laser punches straight through everything in a line. Green pencils home in on enemies by themselves.
  • A bomb erases every bullet on screen and damages all enemies. You're safe while it's going off.
  • Only the small red dot in the middle of your plane can be hit.

A tribute to 90s arcade shooters

Paper Squadron is an original game inspired by the vertical scrolling shoot 'em ups of the 1990s arcades. The plane, enemies, bosses, art, code and sound are all new.
